Entertainment Reviews:
[T]he underrated Reynolds launches a full-force attack on his role, and there are staggering stylised moments...
Empire
Rating: 4/5 --
Really, this is Reynolds' and Satrapi's show and they've both done fantastic work, creating a gory horror-comedy that is funny, unsettling, character driven, and unexpectedly deft.

Rating: 3/5 --
The film is gory, odd (with its scenes of talking animals and severed heads in fridges), horribly uneven but intermittently very funny in its own tasteless, grand-guignol fashion.

Rating: 3/4 --
Think of this stylish, quirky and quite grisly feature from Marjane Satrapi as a meeting of Psycho, Dexter and Dr. Doolittle.

Globe and Mail
Here we have a rather sluggish and tonally awkward blend that is neither successful as a comedy or a darker genre effort.

3 star out of 4 -- [Reynolds] does his best work yet here in Satrapi’s odd, pitch-black comedy about a man who talks to his dog and cat. And they talk back.

Rating: 4/5 --
Somewhat resembling Pushing Daisies if starring Norman Bates, The Voices is a strangely macabre, entertaining spate of lurid whimsy.

Product Description:
An amiable shipping clerk's optimistic exterior masks a dark secret that leads to tragic repercussions when he stops taking his anti-psychotic meds in this satirical horror comedy from Marjane Satrapu. Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) lives in the picturesque American town of Milton, where he earns his living in a factory that produces bathtubs and toilets. Jerry pines for his pretty co-worker, Fiona (Gemma Arterton), who works in accounting and barely acknowledges his existence. Optimistic that he can win her affections after he's recruited to help organize an office work party, Jerry stops taking the medications prescribed to him by his psychiatrist (Jacki Weaver), and that's when the voices start. Though his loyal dog offers Jerry comforting words of reassurance, his cynical cat continually reminds him that he is deeply deranged and completely unworthy of love. Later, when Jerry finally manages to get Fiona alone, the sudden and unexpectedly grim turn of events sends Jerry plummeting down a particularly dark path. Anna Kendrick co-stars
