Product Description:

This series, 'A Newsreel History of the Third Reich', includes unique footage plundered by Russian Troops in 1945. Compiled as it is from German newsreels which were made under the influence of Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda, these are by no means accurate histories but allow unique insight into how the period leading up to and including World War II was presented to the German people. Volume 1 deals with the period from the end of the Great War to the emergence of Hitler as Germany's chancellor. Volume 2 - 1936 to 1939, includes the massive re-armament of the German military and the friendship pact with Mussolini's Italian Fascist Party. Volume 3 - 1940 pt. 1, includes the occupation of Denmark and Copenhagen; the battle of Dunkirk and the surrender of France. Volume 4 - 1940 pt. 2, includes the planning of 'Operation Sea-Lion' (the invasion of Great Britain) and Mussolini's attacks on Greece and Egypt. Volume 5 - 1941 pt. 1, includes the shelling of Dover; Hitler in the Balkans; the paratrooper invasion of Crete; General Rommel's army in Cyrenacia.
