The actors have great rapport, discussing the importance of academic rigor and the quest for scientific immortality....It's kind of nice to see a movie more interested in intellectual sparring than the physical kind.

The movie works. It tells an important story and it does make a meal out of the subject. Full Review

Rating: 6/10 -- Writer-director Matthew Brown keeps it simple, but even those of us who barely skated through high school math are left wanting more explanation of Ramanujan's influence. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/5 -- The period detailing - be it a rustic locale or sophisticated surroundings - is quite superb. Brown also tries to give the story an emotional touch, to good effect. And in fact, it is this which makes this film both enjoyable and gripping. Full Review

Mr. Irons handily hits the emotional beats, as does Mr. Patel...

You can't help but wish that writer-director Matthew Brown had been able to find some way to impart to viewers the nature of Ramanujan's importance other than having his Trinity College sponsor (Jeremy Irons) rhapsodize about his brilliance. Full Review

Helped in part by the excellent chemistry Patel has with Jeremy Irons, who, clearly enjoying himself in his role as the experienced mathematician, is able to bring a thoughtful meticulousness to Ramanujan’s more spontaneous ways of working.
