3 stars out of 5 -- There’s a confident swagger to it, but also a refreshing lack of smugness, Ritchie choosing to mostly avoid knowing comic touches and focus on the unfurling, furious horror of it all, amped up by Christopher Benstead’s dark, dominant score and Jimmy Boyle’s unsettling sound design.
The Guardian
It hits every one of those genres nice and hard, and it pops. It's going to go at number two among my [favorite] Guy Ritchie films.

FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles)
Ritchie’s own RocknRolla-coaster style has plenty of imitators, but here, it’s refreshing to see him calm down and deliver something that’s intricate without being addled.
Variety
Rating: 3/5 --
It's formulaic, sure, but brutal and dark-humored enough to distract from the obvious plot machinery.

Houston Press
[T]he movie does have Statham as its center of gravity, after all. It’s been a while since he’s driven a vehicle this handsomely nasty, with enough bloody, sweaty support from McCallany, Hartnett, Jeffrey Donovan, Laz Alonso, and Scott Eastwood to complement his minimalism.
A.V. Club
Ritchie and Statham are the names that matter most -- obviously. They’ve got the compatible swagger that makes the movie worth watching.
Rolling Stone
Rating: 3.5/5 --
Unsurprisingly, this stripped-down soundtrack serves as the perfect counterpoint for Ritchie's direction, adding an element of the funereal to even the most visceral action sequence.
