4 stars out of 5 -- Based on a true memoir, THE BOYS ARE BACK is a richly emotional and heartfelt drama that should strike a strong chord with discerning movie audiences around the world.
Box Office
While not rising to the status of first rate, Boys Are Back is interesting and worth seeing.

The Atlantic
The film has moments of fun, terror and real emotion....THE BOYS ARE BACK is a bit like the parenting it portrays -- at times there is pain, mistakes will be made, but if you can get beyond that, there is pleasure to be found.
Los Angeles Times
3 stars out of 5 -- The arrival from England of Joe's teenager with abandonment issues is welcome for its honesty and George MacKay's strong presence.
Empire
Rating: 4/5 --
It's a simple story, true, but it's also deeply human.

Roll Credits
Rating: 2/5 --
If you could order a heart-tugging movie about a widower single dad from the Boden catalogue, accessorised with emotional moments purchased online at johnlewis.com, it might look like this excruciatingly artificial and prettified film.

Rating: 2.5/5 --
I felt a level of exasperation with how the character of Joe handled his own children. I'm not a fan of men who have a problem stepping up to the role of a parent.

Product Description:
Clive Owen has taken on the role of men living dangerous lives, such as a bank robber (INSIDE MAN) and an ex-secret agent (DUPLICITY), but those types might seem easy next to being a single father in this dramedy. After the death of his wife, Joe Warr is left with two sons and zero ideas on how to run his house. Soon, the home devolves into chaos, and Joe must decide if his parenting plan wasn't such a good idea after all.
