Description by OLDIES.com:
Long before John Goodman became the "The Babe," William Bendix ("The Life of Riley") portrayed America's most beloved baseball hero, Babe Ruth. This emotion-charged version offers a close-up look at the legend of Babe Ruth in all its glory. Co-starring Academy Award-winner Claire Trevor (Key Largo) and William Frawley ("I Love Lucy").
Product Description:
An extremely sympathetic portrait of the legendary "Babe" which follows him from his troubled childhood to his last heroic day. Bendix portrays the fictional Bambino, recreating the most memorable highlights of his life. Intermingled with these are actual clips of Ruth in action, adding a documentary feel to the picture. Most agree that here is where the film is at its most successful.
