Product Description:
In early 1940, students at Yale University and the Yale Daily News started a closed circuit radio station with on air broadcasts originating from the Daily News building on York Street with the call letters WOCD (Oldest College Daily). In 1945, WOCD broke off from the Daily News and became the main part of the Yale Broadcasting Company, changing the call letters to WYBC. A popular live concert program was initiated in the early 1950's featuring Yale operatic and singing groups known as “Yale Sings,” and became a huge money-maker for WYBC when recordings of the show were compiled and released in album form. Featured here is the classic 1952 album that started it all – “WYBC Presents Yale Sings,” finally available in the digital realm. All selections newly remastered.
