Product Description:
One of Cuba's most famous musical arrangers, Humberto Suarez was the bandleader of Orquesta Cosmopolita; widely regarded as the best accompanying orchestra to work in concert halls and radio during the 1940's and 50's. This rare recording made in Havana in 1959, shortly before the Cuban embargo - was recorded by a team of America's top recording engineers who flew down to Cuba from New York specifically to record Suarez and his orchestra and also the great Bebo Valdes. Bringing the best state of the art equipment, the resulting audiophile recording was considered a major achievement and marks the first time that Suarez and his orchestra were recorded in stereo, a new development at the time. This unique, historic recording is finally made available in the digital domain. All selections have been newly remastered.
