Irene Kral Hold Your Head High & Other Favorites

A great ballad singer, Chicago born jazz vocalist Irene Kral starting singing professionally while still in her teens, performing with bands led by Woody Herman and Chubby Jackson. Irene joined Maynard Ferguson's band in the late 1950s and sang with groups led by Stan Kenton and Shelly Manne as well. She began a solo career that was cut short by breast cancer and was only 46 when she died in 1978. She became more famous after her death when Clint Eastwood used her recordings in his 1995 movie, The Bridges of Madison County. Presented here are some rare tracks recorded in the mid 1960's featuring classic performances including Hold Your Head High, Wonderful Life, Goin' To California and There Are Days When I Don't Think Of You At All. All selections newly remastered.
