A New England schoolteacher, put out to pasture after 50 years of dedicated service, sets out to rediscover her family -- large enough to keep a soap opera going for years -- only to discover that the town that bears the family name and her home for her lifetime is threatened with extinction by certain members of the clan who are in cahoots with a land developer.
