By the end, even a fan of the original may feel dread instead of glee at the rise of synth on the soundtrack, announcing yet another interminable musical number.

Overall it was a bubbly, effervescent fun film with a very likable leading presence from Jessica Rothe.

Product Description:
When her daughter Courtney (Peyton List) breaks up with her boyfriend, Julie (Alicia Silverstone) shares the story of her high school romance in the early '80s. Flashbacks reveal a younger Julie (Jessica Rothe), a privileged girl from the California valley, falling for bad boy Randy (Josh Whitehouse). The two cannot deny their connection, and struggle against the prejudices of their friends and family to keep their romance alive. This film is an adaptation of the 1983 film set to a soundtrack of classic '80s hits. Directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg. Chloe Bennet and Mae Whitman co-star.
