Description by OLDIES.com:
Unusually calm seas strand a Russian naval sailing ship off the port of Morocco. While on shore, young midshipman and aspiring composer Nicholas Rimsky-Korsakov (Jean-Pierre Aumont) meets the luminous Cara (Yvonne De Carlo), a mysterious dancer whose poignant life reminds him of the fabled Scheherazade, the tragic heroine of 1001 Arabian Nights. Nicholas' feelings for Cara inspire his most passionate work but their romance seems doomed when the navy forces Cara to remain in Morocco and bans Rimsky-Korsakov from composing any more music. Nicholas is painfully torn between devotion to his homeland, his music and his cherished Cara.
