Product Description:
Virgin Classics begins its exclusive recording contract with French pianist David Fray by releasing an eclectic programme of works by Bach and Boulez. Boulez himself guided David on his interpretation of his two compositions. The 12 notations pour piano, an early composition by Boulez (1946), is a set of very short pieces made up of 12 bars (the number 12 being a reference to dodecaphony). The second work, Incises, was composed much later (1994/2001).
