...Keener, like DeCillo, makes us believe in someone and something that's elusive...

Rating: 3/4 -- There isn't a whole lot of story in Box of Moonlight. The film works by setting up Al Fountain as a mope, and then hurling gobs of life at him. Some stick. Full Review

On one level a poignant elegy for the obsessive-compulsive, DiCillo's movie is unfashionably innocent and sweet, making it unlikely grist for the hype mill. Full Review

Rating: B- -- There's wonderful chemistry between the eccentric John Turturro and the ever-likeable Sam Rockwell

Rating: B- -- The film is meant to be a whimsical romp, and it takes some time to getting used to eccentric actor John Turturro as Everyman in Middle America! Full Review

Product Description:

Al, a burned-out, milquetoasty, middle-aged engineer, nears his emotional breaking point when his rural out-of-town job falls through. Alone and shiftless, he stays on the road with vague hopes of recapturing the excitement of his boyhood summers at scenic Splatchee Lake, but what he finds instead is inspiration from the colorful lakeside locals, including the Kid, an ininhibited coonskin-capped junkman. The third effort from acclaimed independent auteur Di Cillo ("Living in Oblivion"), who cut his teeth as a cinematographer for Jim Jarmusch.
