Max Minghella, in a more than promising debut behind the camera, has a flair for dazzling detours and actions that define character.
Rolling Stone
Through it all, [Max] Minghella believes in Violet, as does [Elle] Fanning. They both give her character their all, keeping a tight focus on her ups and downs along her journey.

Product Description:
Violet is a 17-year-old living in England's rural Isle of Wight and working to help her Polish immigrant single mother. She wants to audition for a singing competition show called Teen Spirit, but her mother refuses to sign the permission forms.
