The whole thing has come out as a muddle, and a cold-hearted, alienating muddle at that. If this is the life of literary people, then the literary people can keep it. Full Review

Maybury is a filmmaker of lush visual imagination....THE EDGE OF LOVE is shot through with expressive visual flourishes and tricks of the eye.

3 stars out of 5 -- Lots of emoting....The leads get the accents right, and Rhys makes a good fist of the Welsh wordsmith...

4 stars out of 5 -- Knightley looks stunning and appears to have a special empathy with her character....Deftly handled by John Maybury, the tangle of affections is portrayed with assurance and sensitivity. These are passionate and complex beings, caught up in a maelstrom of emotions...

Rating: 2.5/5 -- Despite the supposed passion that such material should inspire, what is presented is an emotionally void "love" story, which features three cold, distant, and un-likeable characters. Full Review

3 stars out of 5 -- Putting as much emphasis on the women in the Welsh poet's orbit as on the drunken rascal himself, Sharman Macdonald's script deserves praise for portraying the human cost of the talented scoundrel's feckless self-absorption.

Rating: 2/4 -- The Edge of Love is literate and often lovely to look at, but unless you're requesting an off-key bohemian rhapsody, do not go gentle into that good theater.

Product Description:

This sweeping romantic drama about the multiple loves of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas stars two British beauties: Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. Vera Killick (Knightley) never really got over her romance with Thomas (Matthew Rhys of BROTHERS AND SISTERS), even though he married Caitlin (Miller) and she wed William (Cillian Murphy). With World War II on the horizon and William wearing a soldier's uniform, the characters mix love, infidelity, and danger as their lives become inextricably linked.
