Jerry (Torn) loses a coin toss, and he dreads being the groom-to-be. But when the beautiful Martha Snow (Mariel Hemingway) arrives, one of his roommates may be tempted to renounce his single status in the name of love. Blackmail and arson add spice to this seaside-set romantic comedy, which also stars Charles Durning and John Savage.

Having braved the treacherous seas most of their lives, three retired captains (David Carradine, Rip Torn and Bruce Dern) are now faced with their toughest challenge ever: living together. The three agree to advertise for a reliable, able-bodied woman to cook, care and keep the house. The Catch is: one of them will have to marry her so the other two can unk for free. But their plans quickly capsize when lovely, strong-willed Martha (Mariel Hammingway) agrees to sign on as first mate in this delightfully romantic family comedy.
