Oscar Peterson on piano, Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums get us started with their jazz interpretation, 'Plays Porgy And Bess' from 1959. Oscar Swings!!...............for 'Swinging Brass' The Trio is joined by the likes of Bob Cooper, Buddy Childers, Ollie Mitchell, Stu Williamson, Bud Shank and Harry Nash who all help to create the first big band album of Oscar's career! It's 1958 and we have a change in the classic line up for 'The Oscar Peterson Trio Swings My Fair Lady' with Gene Gammage holding down the drum stool, having replaced guitarist Herb Ellis before being replaced himself by Ed Thigpen. As you will hear the classic Lerner & Leowe soundtrack to 'My Fair Lady' lends itself perfectly to jazz interpretation and what better exponent than Oscar Peterson Back to 1956 and Herb Ellis is back on guitar at the 'Stratford Shakespearean Festival' where we feature four tracks. Let's leave it to Oscar to talk about the recording from his original liner notes! Speaking of how much better he feels the trio perform to a live audience 'I honestly believe that this recording of the Triois our best to date'. To conclude his notes..'As for myself, I have never felt more relaxed and at ease at a recording studio..it shows in my playing'. Nuff said!! Finally we feature three tracks from The 1952 Carnegie Hall concert 'Oscar Peterson Trio at JATP' where Barney Kessel takes on the guitar duties. All three albums plus have been digitally re-mastered
