On his way to the altar, famed adventurer Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond is sidelined by a bank robbery committed by master thief Henri Armides (Eduardo Ciannelli). The cash is stashed in a radio and shipped to France. Both Bulldog and his bride-to-be give chase, culminating in a harrowing dash to save themselves from being blown to bits in a devastating explosion. This next-to-last entry in the popular H.C. McNeile detective series co-stars returning players E.E. Clive as Bulldog's butler Tenny and Reginald Denny as his hapless friend Algy, again providing the laughs in this action packed mystery.

Your description makes this next-to-last. In fact it is the last of the Paramount series of eight Bulldog Drummonds, starting with Bulldog Drummond Escapes (1937, with Ray Milland as Drummond) and continuing with John Howard in the role in seven films from 1937 through 1939. The crazy thing about this highly entertaining series is that Drummond meets his lady love in the first film and is on his way to the altar in every one of the subsequent episodes, only to be sidetracked by some crime or other. (Note spelling: altar. "Alter" is what you do to a pet to keep from getting more pets.) The sequence seems to be: Bulldog Drummond Escapes, Bulldog Drummond's Revenge, Bulldog Drummond Comes Back, Bulldog Drummond's Peril, Bulldog Drummond in Africa, Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police, and Bulldog Drummond's Bride. (Generally lousy titles, especially "Secret Police" which calls up utterly inappropriate associations.)
