It would have been better if [Bing Crosby] had taken more part. Hope is at his sunniest when he has brash competition. In Where There's Life he carries more of the story than is good for such an ebullient fellow.

Where There's Life there is, naturally, Bob Hope. This movie has quite a lot of Hope, in fact, but rather less life than his admirers have reason to hope for.

Description by OLDIES.com:
Michael Valentine (Bob Hope) has his world turned upside down when he is named the long-lost heir to a far-away kingdom. He soon becomes the target of spies, kidnapping, death plots and two determined women: his ex-fiancee (Vera Marshe), and General Grimovitch (Signe Hasso), a beautiful blonde militant who's trying to get him safely to his new country. Meanwhile, his ex's Manhattan cop brothers and revolutionaries from his new kingdom are all out to get him.
