Rating: 7/10 -- A bold attempt to blend fiction and fact: drawing considerably from the actual events but still find room to tell its own account. Full Review

Rating: 7/10 -- That the crime is ultimately unsuccessful isn't a shocker - the film acknowledges this within the first few moments - but this detail hardly matters, because what's so intriguing is why the boys chose to attempt this crime in the first place. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- [T]hanks to first-person accounts of the real-life robbers, not to mention Layton's highly tense direction, the ambiguity of the whole piece leaves you wanting to go over it again and again. Full Review

5 stars out of 5 -- Layton pulls off some deft manoeuvres here, mining the tension between the amusing amateurism of our heroes and the heart-pounding drama of the heist.

[T]ricked out to the max with lithe structural fillips, flashes of cinematic quotation and formal sleight of hand that gradually reveals a pointed thematic purpose.
