Product Description:
BEAUTY'S WORTH is a quasi Cinderella tale, with Marion Davies as Prudence Cole, a young Quaker woman who attempts to enter society while being watched over by two spinster aunts. Mixing in as best she can at a seaside country club, she is romanced by a superficial young cad (Hallam Cooley) as well as by a young artist (Forrest Stanley) who sees perceives her inner beauty. The artist stages a lavish theatrical game of charades for the club members that features young Prudence, and she makes a big hit with the socialites. As in THE BRIDE'S PLAY, in the end Davies' character must choose between two men who adore her by learning which of them truly loves her.
Released in May 1922, BEAUTY'S WORTH features the same creative team, in particular the art director Joseph Urban, and some of the supporting cast that would be the nucleus of WHEN KNIGHTHOOD WAS IN FLOWER in Davies' breakout hit released in the fall of that year.
The film is presented here for the first time on home video, in a digital scan from a nitrate 35mm print preserved by the Library of Congress and features a new theatre organ score by Ben Model.
