Bud Shank encounters fellow jazz master Phil Woods on Bouncing With Bud & Phil, an epic wailing session recorded live in November 2004 at the legendary jazz club Yoshi's in Oakland, California. Both of these acclaimed alto saxophonists are alumni of Charlie Parker U and hold masters degrees from that hallowed institution. A reviewer who attended the concerts described Shank, 78, and his special guest Woods, 73, as 'septuagenarian gladiators,' a term both loved, and the mutual respect these two jazz giants have for each other resonates in every note.
