Product Description:
UK two CD collection from the Blues icon. In the early '20s, Hurt teamed up with white fiddle player Willie Narmour, playing square dances. When TG Rockwell (Recording Director of Okeh Records) came to Avalon to audition Narmour, he asked if there were any other notable musicians in the area. Narmour told Rockwell of John Hurt, and late one evening, they went to hear him play. Rockwell was so impressed with Hurt's smooth and gentle style, that he immediately invited him to Memphis for his first recording session. On 14 February 1928, John recorded 8 songs. Six were never released, and to this day have never been found. The two titles that were released from this session, -Frankie- and -Nobody's Dirty Business- can be found on Disc 1 of these re-mastered recordings.
