Product Description:
South Korean director Sang-soo Hong (VIRGIN STRIPPED BARE BY HER BACHELORS) fashions a Kieslowski-like meditation on chance, fate, and missed encounters in his thematically and stylistically experimental THE POWER OF KANGWON PROVINCE. Two recently separated lovers--a college student named Jisook (Yun-hong Oh) and her married professor Sang-kwon (Jong-hak Baek)--unknowingly find themselves on the same train en route to the beautiful Korean mountain resort of Kangwon, where they nearly cross paths while brooding over their failed relationship. Hong wraps his forlorn tale in parallel narratives and shifting perspectives that only add to the film's aura of postmodern ennui.
