Description by OLDIES.com:
Surrounded by the Germans and with commanding officer General Lane dead, Sgt. Savage (Glenn Ford) and Corp. Derby (Red Buttons) wonder what to do next. So when Corp. Sellers (Dean Jones) mistakes the sergeant for Lane, Savage decides to pretend he's the general and lead a counterattack. The only hitch in his plan is Orville Hutchmeyer (Tige Andrews), a former master sergeant Savage helped bust to a private. For if Hutchmeyer exposes the ruse, Savage will have to decide the best way to be shot: by the enemy or for impersonating a general.
