It's fast, fun and funny -- and the best-looking movie Mae West ever made, having the shimmery luster you only saw in Paramount movies.

Disappointing Mae West vehicle that lacks wit and a good story.

Despite [West's] imitators, there is still no one like her, and as long as she's in a picture -- and in it lots -- it's good enough for me.

The richly fascinating Miss West gives the censors something further to worry about.

...a hopelessly forgettable effort that seems to have been assembled around a series of admittedly strong one-liners (ie the story is generic to an almost absurd degree).

Creaky and dated, but Mae West and her biting dialogue still sparkle.

Description by OLDIES.com:
Ruby Carter (Mae West), the night club sensation of St. Louis, relocates to New Orleans and becomes the prize attraction of "The Sensation Club." West's risque brand of humor and naughty musical numbers enliven a plot that involves jewel thieves, a fixed boxing match and murder. Directed by comedy expert Leo McCarey (Duck Soup, 1933, The Awful Truth, 1937) and featuring Duke Ellington and His Orchestra who provide musical accompaniment for several of West?s songs.
