Enjoyable if not one of the great Astaire-Rogers musicals, Roberta received nomination for the Best Song Oscar (Lovely to Look At).

Weary book, still wonderful score.
Kansas City Kansan
It is sufficiently sumptuous; especially the fashion show, which includes a wrap of Russia sables and one superb gold lamé gown apparently applied directly to the figure with wallpaper paste.

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are particularly shoved to the side in this outing...

Good Astaire-Rogers musical that suffers slightly from subplot.

You have to put up with a plot that's so sticky it doesn't fly.

Description by OLDIES.com:
Huck Haines (Fred Astaire) sails all the way to the City of Lights with his friend John (Randolph Scott), whose jazz band has a couple of gigs lined up at a local club. Unfortunately, the group isn't what the proprietor expected, and he refuses to honor the engagement. So Haines and the musicians head to Roberta's -- a chic boutique owned by Huck's Aunt Minnie (Helen Westley). It is there that John meets the Russian princess Stephanie (Irene Dunne), now Minnie's employee, and immediately falls for her. Not too much later, Huck also runs into romance... in the figure of his former girlfriend, Lizzie (Ginger Rogers).
