The Judy Garland Show - Volume 5

As a staple of the CBS Sunday night line-up for a very short time in the early 1960s (September 1963-March 1964), the one-season musical variety series THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW endured a number of radical format changes in a consistent (and unsuccessful) attempt to find long-term footing. Despite its many stylistic variations, however, it did net Emmy nominations and boasted spectacular performances by Garland and her guests. As issued by Classic World Productions, this fifth volume of episodes from the series contains two full episodes out of the program's complete 26-episode run - one that aired on Sunday, January 5, 1964, featuring Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows and Mel Tormé (and generally labeled 'Episode 11') and another that ran on February 16, 1964 (generally labeled 'Episode 21'). Highlights include Garland's renditions of "Smile" and "Hey Look Me Over," and a Harold Arlen/Richard Rodgers medley.
