Entertainment Reviews:
Rating: 9/10 --
I've not in years seen an onscreen character that feels as fully-realized as Turner, and Spall's seamless performance combined with the immaculate set and costume design and stunning photography makes for a film that feels like a time machine.

Rating: 3.5/4 --
You leave "Mr. Turner," as with all good fact-based films, wanting to know more about this man and his work - and remembering that beautiful, almost touchable light, on the canvas and on the screen.
Seattle Times
Rating: 4/4 --

Spall imbues the role of his lifetime with both crankiness and warmth, playing the artist as a distant, preoccupied eccentric too wrapped up in his calling to devote much energy to social niceties. -- Grade: B+

3 stars out of 4 -- The juxtaposition of 19th-century British painter J.M.W. Turner's crude, cantankerous persona with his gorgeous, delicate works makes for an intriguing period drama.
