Rating: 3/5 -- The standard plot now looks hackneyed, and the cueball-headed Dekker is stereotypically crazy. However, the impressive array of oversize props make this a lot of fun to watch. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/5 -- It all looks so familiar now, but by placing the film in its historical perspective--novel special effects, Technicolor, and the directorial pull of Schoedsack--one can understand its sensational attraction at its time. Full Review

An engaging fantasy with brilliantly executed (though mostly rather unimaginative) special effects which look back to The Devil Doll and forward to The Incredible Shrinking Man. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

Four explorers search for legendary physicist Dr. Alexander Thorkel (Albert Dekker). When Biologists Dr. Mary Robinson (Janice Logan), Dr. Bullfinch (Charles Halton), Dr. Bill Stockton (Thomas Coley), and Steve Baker (Victor Kilian) discover their missing colleague, they find his brilliant mind has been warped by radiation and decide to return him to civilization for psychiatric help. To their shock, the half-blind, half-mad scientist refuses and implements an experimental body-altering device to reduce his former friends to one-fifth their normal size. Suddenly, harmless items and small creatures become giant-sized instruments of death.
