Optimism sneaks into OH, LUCY!, an against-the-odds charmer about a woman, a tragic wig and an improbable journey. It’s a near-minor miracle that just about everything works in this emphatically modest comedy-drama...
New York Times

Rating: B -- Nothing here is wrapped up with a red ribbon the way it would be in an American film, studio made or otherwise. Oh Lucy! has the guts to leave things messy and unkempt, just like life. Full Review

[T]hanks to writer-director Atsuko Hirayanagi and a core cast of outstanding performers, OH LUCY! almost never loses its footing on its way to becoming one of the most entertaining and original films of the year.
Chicago Sun-Times
May 30, 2018
Rating: 4/5 -- The writer-director uses one woman's life as a bizarre-but-funny vessel for humans' capacity for change. Full Review

Rating: 3/4 -- What makes Hirayanagi's iteration of this familiar theme appealing are the quirky characters, the nuanced performances, and the curious cultural topography of Tokyo. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- At its best, it's a comedy of miscommunication, one that hits an occasional rough spot when the location shifts from Tokyo to SoCal and a chase ensues between Lucy and her mother and sister. 2017. Full Review
