[I]f you want a moving account of kids coming-of-age with an SFF twist, you'd be better off just screening The Goonies or E.T. at home. Full Review

[The kids] are terrific -- and the main reason to go see EARTH TO ECHO. Astro and Hartwig in particular are true standouts and have solid careers in their future.

The film's strongest point, however, are the engaging performances from the young cast of relative unknowns. Full Review

Green's film takes bits from here and there to renew itself….EARTH TO ECHOES remixes all these Eighties motifs, ensuring that Alex and his friends' contemporary escapades come with a nostalgic echo for any parents viewing the film along with children.

Rating: C- -- The mildewed found-footage technique allows some tension to build from offscreen action, but also renders the knockoff John Williams score inexplicable. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- This kind of magpie filmmaking can work with a sincere core, but the big problem is that Earth to Echo lacks one. It's all spare parts. Full Review

Product Description:

A group of young friends come to the aid of a mysterious visitor from a distant planet in this kid-friendly sci-fi adventure in the tradition of E.T. and THE GOONIES. Shortly after a massive construction project begins driving out the residents of their serene Nevada neighborhood, best friends Tuck (Astro), Munch (Reese Hartwig), and Alex (Teo Halm) notice that their mobile phones are being flooded with a series of enigmatic, encoded messages. Determined to discover the source of the code as their families, too, pack up and prepare to go their separate ways, the trio venture out into the desert and find a diminutive alien they nickname "Echo," who needs their help to get back to his ship. Although their quest is complicated by a group of sinister construction workers on a mission to reach the ailing extraterrestrial first, Tuck, Munch, and Alex soon receive some unexpected help from their classmate Emma (Ella Linnea Wahlestedt). Together with Emma, these three friends might just have a shot at getting Echo back to the stars before he's captured and imprisoned by the shadowy figures who are closing in fast.
