It is far from being wonderful and is more conventional than one would expect from a filmmaker like Todd Haynes, but in the end the positive ends up triumphing over the negative. [Full Review in Spanish] Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- Wonderstruck offers a myriad of visual delights and a complete immersion in two time periods, but it is more a tour of wondrous sights than great storytelling. Full Review

At the heart of Selznick’s story is a kind of ode to museums and their curators, keeping history alive by artfully arranging it. That would seem to suggest a perfect match of director to material.

As a nifty exercise in paying homage to certain filmmaking styles of the 1920s and 1970s in parallel stories seemingly destined to meet at some point, Todd Haynes’ WONDERSTRUCK is quite the achievement.

Product Description:

This coming-of-age drama follows the parallel stories of two deaf children in different eras who travel to New York City in search of their idols. In 1927, Rose (Millicent Simmonds) sets out to meet her favorite actress (Julianne Moore), while in 1977, Ben (Oakes Fegley) looks for his absent father. Michelle Williams and Jaden Michael co-star. Directed by Todd Haynes. Brian Selznick adapted the script from his novel of the same name.
