One of the summer's more pleasant surprises.
Variety

Rating: 1/5 -- Brendan gets hit in the face a lot, that's good for a few laughs but you've already seen it in the trailer. Full Review

The fanciful associations and bad jokes are more often stupid than silly, making all the spectacle and contrived dance numbers seem a colossal waste. Full Review

There's not one joke, one slapstick moment, one innuendo that's funny.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Nov 1, 2004
Rating: 1.5/4 -- Pacing is slow in this comedy, as if actors are waiting -- along with the weary kids and adults in the audience -- for anyone to say something funny. We're still waiting.

...A genial live-action version of the old cartoon....Fraser is stalwart and credulous....Parker is wide-eyed and easily astonished...
Chicago Sun-Times
Aug 27, 1999

Product Description:

The gallantly goofy "Mountie" of Jay Ward's 1969 television cartoon bumbles his way onto the big screen in this live-action adaptation starring Fraser in the titular role. Dudley must foil the dastardly deeds of Snidely Whiplash--brilliantly brought to life by Molina--in order to save his damsel in distress Nell Fenwick (Parker), and along the way hopefully learn to ride his trusty horse Horse (the brains of the duo) and avoid loose floor boards. Physical comedy (mostly involving humorous head trauma) rules the day in this good-natured family comedy.
