Description by OLDIES.com:

Journalist Eve Drake is writing an article on motorcycle racing and is powerfully attracted to daredevil champion "Dusty" Weston. But after witnessing the ruthless Dusty send several drivers to the hospital, she becomes disenchanted. Eve begins to date Dusty's pal, master cycle designer Chris Rhodes. The former friends fight over Eve, and when they part ways, find themselves as adversaries in a major race. They bitterly compete for victory at lightning speeds, where the slightest slip-up could be deadly.

Blonde athlete Bill Williams had a long career playing nice-guy second leads beginning in 1944 when he appeared in Murder In The Blue Room. Bill co-starred with actress Barbara Hale in West Of The Pecos (1945). They married the following year and would appear together in A Likely Story (1947) and The Clay Pigeon (1949). Bill later found success as the titular character in the popular television show "The Adventures Of Kit Carson" (1951-53).

Product Description:

The title refers to the euphoric pleasures of motorcycle racing, a sport that is exploited to the breaking point in this film. Reckless racer Bill Williams and his cycle-designer buddy Steve Flagg come to blows over the lovely Carla Balenda (a blonde in this picture, a brunette in other films). This tenuous plot device is used as a framework for an endless flow of film clips shot at real-life racing events--crashes, hairbreadth rescues and all. Since this was made before THE WILD ONE, the correlation between motorcycles and leather-jacketed hoodlums is not touched upon. THE PACE THAT THRILLS is recommended primarily for motorcycle buffs; other viewers will be less than thrilled.
