Description by OLDIES.com:
Sometimes labeled a protest group, The Last Poets were dedicated to raising black consciousness (a position which got them on Nixon's Counter-Intelligence Programming list). Much of the group's material condemned both white oppression and Black stasis. This new compilation of original recordings by The Last Poets are as revelant today as when first recorded in the late 1960s. Highlights on this compact disc include "Poetry Is Black," "Nubian II" and the explosive "Today Is A Killer."

Outstanding Ear Candy!

I`m a little prejudiced because I used to be part of Kain` group "Blue Guerrilla" in `71 as a bassist and keyboardist but as I re-listen to the works the smiles and deep feelings return just as it was when I was behind Kain, Felipe, David and at that time Gail too. I never connected more to any other poets, ever. The intensity of and the connection to the music is devistating. You also couldn`t meet more well-rounded people, people of high substance and intelligence.
