Not notorious but very nice, pretty Marian
Marsh plays Jenny Jones who because of
a secret in her past is black listed from
finding employment after she loses her
job as an office clerk. She meets notorious
racketeer (J. Carroll Naish) who, at first,
is pretty nice as well, marries him and is
the gold star suspect when he is found
slumped over his desk. There is a trial etc...
before that she has endured all that a 1933
pre-code could fling at a girl - starvation,
unsuccessfully persuaded (by Betty Compson)
to try her hand at being a hostess before hitting
rock bottom and accepting a handout from
a "kindly" stranger who turns out to be a rat!!
Pretty Rochelle Hudson plays the snooty
Constance Martin who wants Jenny's nice boy
friend for herself and gets a big surprise at
the end.
