Composer/arranger Clifford Crawly has created delightful arrangements for violin and piano of eighteen Christmas favorites including ''God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Coventry Carol, Come All Ye Faithful, ''O Little Town of Bethlehem'' and ''Silent Night.'' Unlike most Christmas CDs, this one is neither cliched nor jolly, although it is festive. Duo Concertante are joined by clarinetist Christine Carter for five songs. Duo Concertante - violinist Nancy Dahn and pianist Timothy Steeves - are best known for their Marquis recordings of the Beethoven: Complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano, and J. S. Bach Sonatas for Violin and Keyboard.
