Rating: 10/10 -- Whenever you can set aside a few hours for this thing, go and see it. Just be prepared for it: this ain't a movie you can just casually watch. Full Review

Gyllenhaal begins and ends with the same dogged determination, the same pessimism and thinly veiled anger, and the same moral center. Kudos to him, as the actor must build character subtext out of scant scripted development. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/4 -- A slow burning powder keg of mystery and emotion that winds up the audience and never lets it go. Full Review

4 stars out of 5 -- PRISONERS braids a grand tale of sin and possible redemption with a knotty, intelligently plotted investigative thriller.

Exciting, terrifying, worrisome stuff saturates every second of PRISONERS, holding you captive, keeping you guessing until the bitter end.

In addition to the skin-crawling camera moves and the understated dread that bolsters the surface tensions of PRISONERS there is a fascinating actor's duel going on.
Wall Street Journal

For all its bells and whistles, Prisoners feels more like a middle-of-the-road episode of "Law and Order" than a film that wants to be a mystery wrapped in a moral dilemma. Full Review

Product Description:

A small-town carpenter turns vigilante in order to rescue his abducted daughter and her best friend in this thriller starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. Six-year-old Anna and her friend Joy have vanished on Thanksgiving without a trace. Devastated, Anna's father Keller (Jackman) makes note of a run-down RV that had been parked on their street at the exact time the girls went missing. When the driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano) is swiftly arrested by Detective Loki (Gyllenhaal), it starts to look like the lead will pay off. Alex, however, is quickly released due to lack of evidence, sending Keller into a frenzy as he realizes that if Anna isn't found soon, odds are she never will be. Knowing that time is not on his side, and ignoring Detective Loki's pleas to leave the case to the pros, Keller risks sacrificing his own freedom in a bid to locate the girls before it's too late. Melissa Leo, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Viola Davis co-star.
