Rating: 2/4 --
Even on the mechanical level in which it was made, the number of jokes that don't work far outnumber the ones that do.

What this one lacks is broad-barreled fun, which is the essential element in a spoof.

...Tom Berenger makes a wonderful costumed crooner....Bailey is terrific....Marilu Henner is perky...
Variety
The producer was David Giler, who once turned out such estimable entertainments as Alien and The Parallax View. Couldn't he have put us all out of our misery? They still shelve movies, don't they?

People Magazine
Rustlers' Rhapsody tries to challenge the age old rule that you can't satirize the Western, and fails.

Mr. Berenger is perfectly adequate but, like the film, he's on much too long.

Product Description:
A flashy, singing cowpoke (Tom Berenger) rides into town to perform heroic deeds and put an end to bad guys in this good-natured spoof of 1940s B-Westerns that includes all the expected stereotypes of dashing heroes in white hats, helpless damsels in distress, and devious outlaws wearing black. Berenger turns in a charming lead performance and Andy Griffith is hilariously cast against type as an evil cattle baron.
