[I]t is an engaging literary coming-of-age story, and one embodied ably by its star.

4 stars out of 5 -- Anchoring it all is Keira Knightley’s fiery performance as the restless, joyful, exasperated and sometimes exasperating Colette.

Knightley meets the camera’s gaze head-on. She seems unafraid to challenge the status quo, which of course, was the very quality that has made Colette’s story so enticing over the years...
Variety

Rating: 4/5 -- Keira Knightley is magnetic in a Paris-set period drama with a dollop of queer feminist energy. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- Westmoreland gives us a heroine as mighty as anything from Marvel, given vivid life by Knightley in the role of this fearless actor's career. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- Knightley's Colette is fine too. But nothing more. The role required a maelstrom of tortured angst and rousing defiance to support the weight of the film. It never arrived. Full Review
