Description by OLDIES.com:
By 52 BC, the Republic of Rome has conquered most of the nations that ring the Mediterranean Sea. Julius Caesar is waging a campaign of northern conquests to gain political prestige back home, part of his power-hungry bid to gain dominance in the Roman senate. He has set his sights on Britain, but before the invasion of the island can begin, Caesar must subdue rebellious Gaul (modern day France). Fighting for their freedom under the barbarian ruler, Vercingetorix, the wild Gallic tribes unite to form a vast army which threatens to annihilate the once invincible Roman legions.
Cameron Mitchell, who portrays Julius Caesar in this Italian spectacle, boasts an impressive career in stage, screen and television spanning five decades. He played the role of Happy in the original Broadway production of Arthur Miller's "Death of A Salesma"n as well as in the 1951 film adaptation. Mitchell is probably best known for his performances in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and the film version of Carousel (1956). Later audiences remember him fondly as Uncle Buck in the 1960s TV western series, "The High Chaparral."
