Rating: 3/5 -- Though blatantly no Eyes Wide Shut, this second on-screen pairing for the Super-A couple remains a class apart from the dross that was Days Of Thunder. Full Review

This time the concept of TV-for-a-very-big-screen comes out silly. Full Review

Howard's lifelong ambition to make a film about his Irish ancestry results in a light confection, full of sweeping overhead shots and predictable pulp-fiction intrigue. Full Review

Rating: B+ -- Away isn't for cynics, providing an authentic rush of experience that makes the effort feel huge, even when it details the smallest interests of the heart. Full Review

With its terrific cast and splendid production values, Howard's family saga looks like far and away the grandest new-old movie of 1992. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- It's Ron Howard doing his "thing." Which, if you don't know, is sucking it for all it is worth, with having little to begin with, and trying his darndest to spread an Oscar cream to illuminate it. Full Review

Product Description:

Ron Howard's epic tale tells the story of two Irish immigrants' quest for land during the 1890s Oklahoma land rush. Tom Cruise stars as Joseph Donnelly, an ambitious young farmer in western Ireland. When a local protest against wealthy landlord Daniel Christie (Robert Prosky) results in the death of his father, Joseph seeks revenge. But his attempt at vengeance is thwarted by Shannon Christie (Nicole Kidman), the landlord's high-spirited and headstrong daughter, who stabs Joseph with a pitchfork. While convalescing at the Christies' manor, Joseph is propositioned by Shannon, who asks him to travel with her to America--where she is determined to acquire some of the free land being given away in the Oklahoma Territory. Arriving in Boston, Joseph acts as protective brother to Shannon in the foreign city streets as they struggle to earn the money to travel out west.
