Beside their nuptial promises, newlywed society sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey (Robert Montgomery) and crime novelist Harriet Vale (Constance Cummings) make another vow: no more crime in their lives. Fat chance for that when the lovebirds and faithful butler Bunter (Seymour Hicks) arrive at the country cottage they've just purchased to find the overly attentive villagers disrupting their solitude -- and the previous owner's body in the basement.
