Product Description:
Peterson's indie saga looks at an all-female, partially lesbian punk band, the No Exits, and its adventures in post-grunge, Bill Gates-controlled Seattle. These women, along with their friend Jimmy, try to stay afloat- playing music, publishing 'zines and weathering turbulent relationships- doing things on their own terms as the spectre of corporate America looms larger and larger over them.
Description by Image Entertainment:
The new bohemians. "Slaves to the Underground" is a fresh, honest and free-spirited look at life on the cutting edge. Set in the alternative subculture of clubs and coffeehouses, the story centers on a romantic triangle--Suzy, the brash lead singer of an all-girl band; Jimmy, an idealistic writer; and Shelly, who is torn between them. Features the music of Interscope Recording artists Red Five, Lifer and Polara, as well as Elastica's Abby Travis, Ani DiFranco, Mike Martt (with vocals by Suzie Gardner from L7), Stone Fox, Evil Stig (featuring Joan Jett) and many others.
