Description by OLDIES.com:

When a clever hoax backfires, an innocent man finds himself on death row. Ambitious reporter Jim "Lucky" Baldwin is out to prove that circumstantial evidence is a dangerous tool for sentencing men to the gallows. With the help of friend and colleague Fred Stevens, they set in motion a phony murder. Stevens is to be assumed dead at Baldwin's hand. But Jim's luck runs out when his friend is really murdered. Convicted of the crime, Baldwin's life rests with his fellow reporters, who must find and convict the real killer using the very circumstantial evidence their friend had hoped to discredit.

Product Description:

Poorly Patched Plot Movie Lover: from MIDDLE VILLAGE, NY US -- March, 27, 2011

Up until about the midpoint of this film, it's not bad. Then, once the crusading reporter who framed himself, is hours from the scaffold, it looks very much like the writer didn't know how to end his story. As a result all kinds of coincidential conversations and events take place. The star - Chick Chandler - isn't bad in his part but I can't help wonder how someone like Wallace Ford might have saved the story a bit.
