Rating: 5/10 -- The Yellow Birds does make the most of a murky river or a smoldering battleground, but there is little depth behind its reliable imagery. Full Review

[A] thoughtful, melancholy drama....Capped by a truly lovely final shot, THE YELLOW BIRDS is about unseen wounds and wasted lives.

Rating: B -- "The Yellow Birds" is a difficult film that hammers home its point that war is a living hell that extends far beyond the battlefield. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/5 -- Although the cinematography is beautiful and the film has a lot of potential, it's far too slowly paced and doesn't have enough depth for the heavy material it takes on. Full Review

Product Description:

Two young soldiers are forced to endure the brutality and horror that war creates firsthand in this drama from director Alexandre Moors. Bartle (Alden Ehrenreich), who made a promise to protect his teenage friend Murph (Tye Sheridan) before departing for Iraq, looks to survive the fighting and grueling day-to-day conditions while also dealing with the stern, unforgiving Sergeant Sterling (Jack Huston), who is haunted by his own demons. Jennifer Aniston co-stars as Murph's mother, Maureen. Based on Iraq War vet Kevin Powers' 2012 novel.
