It's not only that The Yellow Birds doesn't have anything new to say, but that it's playing movie karaoke with other, better war movies. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- The Yellow Birds doesn't say much of anything outside of the mundane. The trio of young men at its center are compelling enough, but the entire ordeal feels like a mash-up of countless other movies. Full Review

Product Description:

Two young soldiers are forced to endure the brutality and horror that war creates firsthand in this drama from director Alexandre Moors. Bartle (Alden Ehrenreich), who made a promise to protect his teenage friend Murph (Tye Sheridan) before departing for Iraq, looks to survive the fighting and grueling day-to-day conditions while also dealing with the stern, unforgiving Sergeant Sterling (Jack Huston), who is haunted by his own demons. Jennifer Aniston co-stars as Murph's mother, Maureen. Based on Iraq War vet Kevin Powers' 2012 novel.
