Rating: D- -- The anticlimactic scenes all lead up to an inevitable CGI-heavy showdown: Good vs. Evil, featuring a clan of grotesque zombie monks and a winged demon as realistic as the one Eddie Murphy jacks up in The Golden Child. Full Review

Rating: 6/10 -- More than a little silly, but it does have decent-enough entertainment value for its target audience. You'll know if you're in that audience. Full Review

Another forgettable trifle from Cage. Full Review

Rating: 1/4 -- After a while, the movie tires of the witch business and trots out a plot twist that permits the effects department to spend money. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- Season of the Witch is ridiculous in every way. But it's as ridiculous as any ironic fan of Nicolas Cage or hammy, "swords 'n' spells" nonsense could ever wish it to be. Full Review

Rating: 1.5/4 -- Cage is effective as a falling down drunk in Las Vegas or a treasure hunter navigating goofy road trips but not as a disillusioned champion of the Church going one-on-one with a demon. Steven Seagal would have been more believable. Full Review

Product Description:

A noble knight battles a wicked witch in a bid to save humanity from an ancient evil in this supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. Upon returning to his home in Europe, crusading knight Behmen (Cage) finds his faith beginning to falter due to the brutality he's witnessed on the battlefield. The Black Plague has decimated the countryside, forcing Behmen and his loyal companion, Felson (Perlman), to seek sustenance and supplies at the Palace of Marburg. They're weary from war, but they're about to discover that their struggle is just beginning. Commanded by the moribund Cardinal to deliver a suspected witch to the abbey where her powers can be abolished, Behman accepts the assignment under the condition that the young peasant girl will receive a fair trial. The church believes the girl to be the one responsible for the Black Plague, and they may be right, too. As the two men and a small group of chaperones set out on their arduous mission, they quickly realize that their young charge is something more than human, and that they're about to face an evil beyond human comprehension.
